TATSUYA STU TO THE RESCUE.
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Episode 25 Review.
The Irregular at Magic High School Episode 25 Review.
Superheroes do their best to save the day, but sometimes people die and they can only despair at their powerlessness. When it comes to the One True God Tatsuya Stu, however, things are different. Although some may laugh at the phrase, “People die when they are killed,” and think “Well, no fucking shit,” when The Lord¬†is in action,¬†those people¬†better start re-evaluating the profundity of that phrase because when Tatsuya Stu saves the day,¬†he saves everyone’s days. Yes, even those plebians who dare go against His Way are now in a purgatory, and they’ll all be better for it by the time their expiation is complete. ALL HEIL¬†THE ONE TRUE GOD TATSUYA STU. ALL HAIL¬†ONII-SAMA.
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Episode 25 Impression
Before we look at bit closer at The One True God’s glorious revival miracle magic, which I will not fully explain this episode as Miyuki will do so in the next one,¬†I have to address the adaptation itself and how it doesn’t show the true extent of Miyuki’s powers. I could talk about Erika and that
dildo sword, but let’s be honest, the WINCEST is far more important than her acceptance into the Chiba family or whatever other nonsense concerning how she wants to kill people. To put it bluntly, the portrayal of Miyuki’s unique ability, Cocytus, is completely butchered in the anime. To those of you who didn’t read the light novel, you probably think that she just used her ordinary freezing magic when she descended and froze those people who shot Kirihara and Isori. It’s not even close to that. To give you a bit of background information, Miyuki’s mother “possessed the unique External Systematic Magic that could interfere with another person’s mental makeup.” Miyuki then ended up inheriting something like that in the form of¬†mental interference magic which allows her to be Tatsuya Stu’s limiter. The freezing magic she normally uses is also derived from the “manifestation of her innate magic interfering with the physical world.”¬†Mari, who wasn’t even shown in this part, actually couldn’t even use magic against those terrorists because of Miyuki’s interference magic. It’s that strong.¬†The only thing that the anime got right is that she didn’t use a CAD. However, it completely fails at capturing just how frightening this magic is. Cocytus doesn’t freeze a person’s body; it freezes a person’s mind. To quote the light novel, “The frozen mind shall never awaken. The frozen mind cannot comprehend death. There was no way to even inform the flesh that death was upon them.” Miyuki can also¬†precisely choose who she wants to use this magic on, so even if friend and foe are clumped together, she can freeze all the enemies without harming allies at all. Moreover, from how the plebians are clumped together it seems like she can only use her magic in front of her. That’s not the case. This magic is omnidirectional which means that it should have been animated very differently. Something like a pulse version of this magic in the previous¬†episode would have been better. The anime also didn’t even show that everyone, except Erika, felt¬†“mind-crushing terror” from Miyuki using this magic.¬†Let me repeat this again. She doesn’t need a CAD. She can literally just raise her arm, and you can die. You, and however many other people around her that she wants. The characters realize this to some extent, and their horrified¬†expressions should most definitely have been animated. Regrowth wasn’t horribly done,¬†but I’m a bit disappointed that they didn’t show Kirihara’s revival in more detail. I suppose it would have been too graphic? I’m not even sure why they blacked out Kirihara’s injury when they had no problems showing Onii-sama slice people in half. At least I can praise them somewhat for getting that specific priority¬†straight.¬†I can only hope that they don’t butcher the explanation of Regrowth and The One True God’s display of pure destruction in the finale.
Hearing Miyuki’s cry for help, Onii-sama swiftly descended from the heavens. Being the destroyer and creator of all, He chooses who lives and dies. Today is not the day for Kirihara and Isori¬†to die for seeing his glorious imouto sad would sadden Him as well. No matter the cost that He Himself will bear, He will do what He must. “Brother, if you please!” Miyuki says as she grabs hold of his right arm. He could sense her desperation, and unhesitatingly takes out Silver Trident. Understandably, with Kanon’s limited knowledge as a plebian, she cannot possibly comprehend the actions of The One True God, so she panics. But now is not the time to clear things up. Every second was important. Onii-sama begins retracing the Eidos changelog for a previous state where Isori was not injured. To the observer this process seems almost instantaneous, and it is precisely because it is nearly instantaneous that it is such a huge burden even to Onii-sama. A few trickles of sweat ran down Onii-sama’s most handsome face, but to all except Miyuki, no one saw anything different from the usual calm and super sugoi Onii-sama. The price of a life saved could be physically felt by Him. It’s a heavy price. Even so,¬†Onii-sama is benevolent. He shall carry the burdens of those who are too weak to continue to do so. After copying an instance right before Isori was injured, He applies it to Eidos and Isori’s injuries began being¬†erased bit by bit with the radiant light of The Stu. Finally, restoration was complete. Onii-sama wasted no time to do the same to Kirihara. The shredded leg and thigh reconnecting¬†was quite a visual spectacle, and the light of The Stu engulfed his body as well. After making it bloody well clear to everyone that He is literally God, Onii-sama grabs Miyuki and pulls her close. “Well done.” The One True God praises His glorious imouto for her fantastic display of magical ability and composure. To Miyuki, she could hear no better thing.¬†A feeling of pure elation seeped into her very being as Onii-sama takes a step back and returns to His completely black form ready to vanquish all who oppose Him. After nonchalantly slapping His crotch, He ascends¬†back into the heavens, taking His rightful place as The One who watches over all.
Praise The Lord.
Praise The Onii-sama.
Praise The One True God Tatsuya Stu.
