Last week’s recap is nothing to go over in detail, but this episode certainly is. The inclusion of the time travel plot device is something I least expected from a show like this and the fact that it has should bring about some very interesting events. Not to mention, I highly doubt anyone who doesn’t know the source material would be able to predict where it will go from here as it’s more uncertain than ever.

Monogatari Series: Second Season Episode 7 Impressions

Oshino Ougi

Newb.

Dem eyes…

It totally is.

Eyes………

What was a short talk about traffic lights turns into something about safety and danger on a different level. It’s interesting for the traffic lights part to be pointed out and all, but what does it really mean? Well, Ougi’s trying convey the fact that if everything is “green” or if everyone is unaware of the danger that “red” represents, then one will be caught off guard by dangerous situations. That’s why, in a war torn world where even children are fighting, everything is red. Everything is dangerous and people are on constant alert which makes them more weary of life and everything around them. Conversely, people who are so used to peace, prosperity, and the lack of “red” may find themselves ill-suited to deal with certain situations. In the end, she’s basically trying to say that people should be more wary especially in situations that steer them in the opposite direction for that in and of itself may be a great danger.

Well…

Araragi Koyomi

So you can get your guts ripped out again for your masochistic enjoyment. That, and that’s what you do best right? Enduring punishment.

It’s been a long time since I’ve watched Nisemonogatari and my memory about anime that I’ve watched is extremely unreliable before I started reviewing anime. As such, I really don’t remember too much about Ononoki Yotsugi as a character so it’s difficult for me to comment too much on that. I do know from various comments and from the episode itself that she has changed. She despises the phrase she used to say and… Well, you know what, let’s just comment on the things she’s talking about. The difference between her, Araragi, and Hachikuji.

Ononoki Yotsugi

With Araragi sexually harassing her, she probably very happy.

Clearly, they are different in the ways that Ononoki describes them to be. At the same time, however, they are similar as they were once or are human. If we do take this perspective, it’s easy to say that one thing, person, creature, or whatever is similar to another. Of course human beings are different from dogs, but they are similar in how they are both composed of molecules, have sight and hearing albeit they may be composed differently. Such a similarity exists within almost all things as we can find connections between inanimate objects, ideas, and living creatures. And just like similarities, the same idea exists for differences. It’s very difficult to find something completely similar in every way or completely different from another which is why under countless circumstances, both spectrums must be taken into account. While they may be “different” they may also not be as “different” as Araragi may think they may be. Still, that depends on who you ask for a person’s viewpoint will be “different” from another’s in some way, but also “similar” in another way.

Taking all the hurt.

Best vampire.

Wat da fak.

Bro. Careful what you wish for.

So, what about Mayoi and Araragi? Being his usual self, Araragi is out to save just about anyone he can with his almost obsessive behavior. After being beaten around many times with his limbs literally separating from his body and being nearly killed after suffering fatal injuries, it’s always something to see him stand up to be his usual self. He’s quite the adamant, manly, and heroic character, no? Even though, his perverted side tends to get the better of him. As for Mayoi, again, I do not remember much about her, but I guess what Araragi says is good enough. She won’t tell him how she truly feels like some people out there. Some like to keep feelings bottled up to avoid bothering others. Some do it because they think they can take it all, and some do it for other reasons. Whatever it may be, we’ll probably find out in this arc.

Omaigawd.

Forever lolicon.

OOOOOOOOOOO DDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN…

Now, here’s where things get unexpectedly interesting. We’re going back in time! 11 years! And you know what this is all caused by? Summer homework. Yep, that’s not to be taken lightly. Ohhh no. You don’t want to deal with a mountain of homework with only two hours left but… 11 years sounds just as bad. The ominous atmosphere as they entered the past already indicates that something has gone horribly wrong. Without delving too much into time paradoxes, let’s talk about what could happen as a result of this. So, Mayoi is a ghost and this is her arc which makes me think that this travel back in time will finally solve her problems? Maybe because of this leap backwards in time what they can do is possible? Still, as I said before, I am blindly guessing which will undoubtedly end up being a pitiful attempt if it’s not so already.

Monogatari Series: Second Season Episode 7 Review

Kizumonogatari araragi and Shinobu

YEEEEESSSSSS!!! So much awesomeness.

Well, after two weeks of waiting, I can gladly say that this is probably the best opening to an arc I could have asked for. Not only is it surprising, it still has some thought-provoking comments thrown everywhere that this series as a whole does on a regular basis. Usually, openings of arcs are the weakest part for it is developing the scenario and fleshing it out fully to create a proper climactic impact. A good way to prevent the weakness is to provide some sort of unexpected twist like this. Now, this surprise is nice and all, but that means nothing if this time travel back in time doesn’t amount to something that could have only been done because of the time travel itself. With how the series has progressed so far, I have high hopes for it creating a unique scenario where we’ll see a dramatic impact of this time travel and hopefully provide some brilliant moments. What can I say? I’m more curious than ever at how everything will unravel now.

I will go and say I enjoyed the recap episode. Nothing better than watching Araragi getting dismembered like he’s Mortal Kombat. Shinobu is just godly, best vampire since Blade. As for this weeks episode I’m glad we’re on Hachikuji’s arc. I must say I have missed the sexual harrasment, also thrown in with some Shinobu and time travel makes it even better! Has me wondering many things, like will Araragi try to interfere with the Hachikuji of this time(most likely.)

Gotta love how Shinobu was so laid back with everything to. Indeed best vampire. Great review as always!!

Now that’s a badass entrance. And all that talk about trafic lights seems like a bad omen to me.

Btw last 3 eps of Oreimo are out. You’re in for quite a shock!

I got spoiled on what happens at the end so… I wasn’t even surprised as I knew it was going to happen, but regardless, I’ll give my thoughts on it as always hopefully in the next 24 hours. Either way, not sure if the shock is going to be good or bad to be honest. I’m just going to marathon it in like 3-4 hours after I do some other things.
