You know, I’ve been quite here and there when it comes to liking Oreimo this season. This time around, however, the Kuroneko vs Ayase clash sure makes things a lot more interesting.

You totally have though.

Dat mom.

Uh huh.

Kirino hits Kyousuke in the head Kousaka Daisuke father

You know something is wrong when parents are hinting at their children doing something… “strange” together. A mother knows her children extremely well, and it’s no surprise that Kirino’s habits have changed to favor Kyousuke more than disparage him. It’s not like incest is illegal in Japan, but such a thing is not considered “appropriate” by social standards regardless. As for how that’s related with him getting an “A” in school, who knows. It’s like they’re just manipulating him into doing better at school more than they’re worried about Kirino and Kyousuke’s relationship with each other.

O.o

Kirino eroge perverted

Otaku mode.

Inb4 Ayase hears this and goes yandere.

Anything.

I can’t say that I’m not at least slightly glad at Kirino not constantly kicking her brother in the face every five seconds now that they understand each other better. Actually, they are becoming very close. If anything, Oreimo is making it seem like their relationship has gone to another phase, and it’s gotten to the point where they’re acting like siblings who do love each other. In the sibling way of course. It’s almost like I’m watching a different anime when I see the two interact now. Not that I’m not glad that the tsundere Kirino is gone though. I’m thankful for that.

Lolololol.

ROFLMAO. KYOUSUKE 2013.

Derp.

Kanako has definitely been someone who has been just dismissible in my eyes for the few times that I’ve seen her. Nothing about her really stands out, and I didn’t particularly like anything about her. Even so, I’m surprised that the writer decides to spend a decent amount of time expanding her character. The scenes with Kyousuke and Kanako are obviously meant more for humor rather than actual development character-wise. And for that, I suppose they did a decent job, but it’s by no means that great. Moreover, if they are trying to develop her character, I’m afraid that it’s not going to amount to anything in the end. As we’ll see next, Oreimo is beginning to narrow everything down.

Ore no imouto Ayase Aragaki smile

I may have been uncertain about the Ayase moments before, but if they’re putting it to good use like they’re trying to do so here, I have no complaints. Her yandere moments can be quiet entertaining, and her interactions with her onii-san are somewhat different from how Kyousuke acts with the other female characters. And as for what Kirino said on their walk back home, I’m guessing it has something to do with her actually appreciating what Kyousuke is doing for her.

FATEFUL ENCOUNTER.

Because you’re in a harem.

Man. Kuroneko is so awesome.

Aw damn.

Kousaka Kyousuke muttering stuff

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…

The moment I’ve been waiting for. Well, it’s not like I knew it was coming, but I was really hoping for a clash between Ayase and someone sooner or later, and Kuroneko manages to do create that conflict. These kinds of interactions are what I really enjoy seeing due to the clash in differences. Well, that, and HOLY CRAP KURONEKO JUST WENT ALL OUT THIS TIME. I don’t care if you hate Kuroneko or whatever, but you have to admit that she’s just being totally amazing here by not only stating her friendship, but the fact that she accepts Kirino’s sexual romantic feelings for Kyousuke if they are ever to surface. I am a little bit hesitant in praising how she would just “step down” if Kirino wants her to, but I guess that’s how far their friendship goes. Reeeeeaaal far. Anyways, I do believe that Kuroneko knows Kirino the best, and if anything, what she’s saying is foreshadowing what’s to come. Uhhhh. Wait, no. I don’t mean that they’re going to do it, but you know… Like… yeah… They like each other so… yeah…

Oreimo ayase aragaki bs

OBJECTION!

That tension. That shockwave.

Ore no imouto Ayase Aragaki

OHHHHH YEAAAAHHHHHH

Kuroneko chuunibyou

Fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight.

YEEEEESSSS I love chuunibyou fightingmoments. Other anime, like Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! (Spoiler warning) is one where the characters have quite a bit of imaginary combat. It really does add a much needed bit of flair to the mundane everyday life setting that people are so used to. And hey, it’s not like they’re spending a ton of capital on a lot the scenes of a typical slice of life anime anyways right? Anyways, with Kyousuke finally finishing what he’s supposed to say to Kuroneko, we’ve reached the stage where the anime could go any which way, but it’s now narrowed down between Kuroneko and Kirino. Then again, with the next episode about Ayase as well… the writer may be trying to bring in another person into the fray. Still, I don’t think she’ll been given as much of a chance of winning as much as she’s given a chance to bring more entertainment to the anime.

Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai. (Oreimo) Season 2 Episode 11 Review

Overall, I’d say that I enjoy watching this episode more than I did the others mostly because of the interesting character interactions. If Ayase continues having entertaining, and meaningful character interactions with everyone else, that would be great. Especially since the next episode expands upon that even more, I’m looking forward to chances of her and Kirino fighting it out. Although the humor wasn’t a hit for me, the interactions sure are especially when it involves some imaginary chuunibyou fighting. It’s definitely an entertaining episode that gives way to some more developments in the ways of closing this anime up and figuring out a definite winner. Hopefully Oreimo continues to tread in this direction and make the best of the time it’s put in to Ayase.

I rofled this episode can’t wait for you to post attack on titan episode 11 review

It’s coming albeit slowly. Some things happen or it would have already been out 2 hours ago or so.

    Great review as always!

The translation when he finds the blog is a bit off. In the books he says “How could I use the name on my mind in an open blog like this!” so it’s hard to understand there too… Guess he’s just trying to justify his “ahem” interests.

The clash! I’ve been waiting for this! Though Kuroneko might win a battle of wits with her sincerity and “extreme” options, I’m afraid of what yandere mode Ayase might do with an unseathed knife.

Anyways hope they settle this with a solid ending and possibly a bad/true ending alternative like they did in season 1.

      Thanks a lot!

I don’t really think the translation is off. He’s actually saying that “when did I (Kyousuke) make such a wonderful blog” here so the translation, in my opinion, is spot on. It’s definitely weird though in that context. I guess Kyousuke’s just being a derp as always.

Man, that would be something to see Ayase unsheath the knife. If she acutally did, I would have lost it. Just hoping that the LN ended well as the anime is following that.

I really want to do another Oregairu review before it ends so I’ll probably end up doing it. It depends how long some other things are going to take because I am late for this review, SnK, and Hataraku which I already skipped a week. No promises, but I’ll try to do my best.

hmmm… nice to see ruri again.. ^_^
btw, why didn’t you review the conversation between kyousuke and ruri just before ruri left? I’d llike to know everyones opinion about it.

Well, it’s more or less finishing up what was already implied the episode when they broke up. I don’t have anything to add from what I said in that episode. They’ve reset the relationships but the characters are obviously different. Kuroneko has less chance of winning now that Kirino is opening herself up, but we never really know until the end.

Next epi is gonna be godly for Ayase fans. GODLY. SO good.

Starting to like her more now so I’ll be looking forward to that!

  • A.C.

I actually like Konako, but even I’ll admit this was far from her best appearance (that would be the last episode when she was giving Ayase a hard time ^_^). I did like Kyo’s ‘sausage’ description though, and the dry as hell expression just made his delivery more awesome! :P

Other than that Kuroneko literally had me on the floor, and Kyo’s ‘question’ was just wrong on so many levels but still quite entertaining. Speaking of levels, it seems to me that both Ayase and Konako are at their best when going up against certain protagonists. If this is what Atomic Dwarf was referring to in the last episode then I can see what he meant. Any excuse to see Kuroneko enact her ‘powers’ is okay by me! ^_^

Still, that ’emotional altruism’ of hers continues to surprise/scare me though, literally ready to stand by whilst jiggy shenanigans ensue, wow Kuroneko!!!!! O_O

Kuroneko vs Ayase is something I need to see a lot more of. Sadly, there isn’t much time left to expand on that more, but it’s nice to see that imaginary fight. I’m not one for liking what Kuroneko said about Kirino and Kyousuke, but it certainly shows her level of commitment to the two.

Apparently next episode is godly for Ayase fans so… Looking forward to it!
