“My Little Sister Can’t Be Bringing Her Boyfriend Home”
“Ore no Imōto ga Ie ni Kareshi o Tsuretekuru Wake ga Nai”

As expected from last episode’s ending, drama soon makes its way into the anime by the ways of a so called “boyfriend” even though we clearly know from the onset that it’s just Kirino pretending to have one. If anything, this episode reminds me a lot of what has happened last season of Oreimo.

Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai. (Oreimo) Season 2 Episode 6 Impressions

Mikagami Kouki, is one of those soft looking people that almost emits an effeminate vibe. It may be his attitude, but he’s quite… normal? There’s nothing about him that makes me think he’s that interesting, and yet, at the same time, I’m just waiting for a darker personality to rise up. But enough of him. He’s not quite as important as the interpersonal conflicts that are going on inside of Kyosuke, Kirino, and Kuroneko’s heads.

Sure sure.

Kirino unsatisfied

It’s not too surprising that Kyousuke takes it the way he does. After all, his sister has found a person suitable for him and all. Why would he- But of course, that’s just a way of denial, and if it isn’t clear enough already, Kirino’s stares towards Kuroneko and Kyousuke are indicative of just how dedicated she is to her new “boyfriend.” Moreover, it’s not like Kuroneko can’t see through the facade that Kyousuke puts up. In essence, there is just jealousy all over the place.

WHA- Ayase? I didn’t expect her to make a yandere appearance so quickly. But seriously, Kyousuke and all other male characters in anime. Please stop thinking that everyone wants to jump on your dick. Seriously, it’s not like that- Wait, no. That’s real life. Nevermind, Kyousuke can dream whatever dream he wants with Ayase. But honestly, he likes Ayase, but only in a perverted way? It doesn’t look like their ship is going to take off any time soon. Oh well. It’s not like Ayase has anyone else in mind except for Kirino.

Kuroneko confession about her feelings

What courage.

Kirino hostile eye dart

Whoa, whoa. Did you forget about all your requests?

So if Kyousuke isn’t going to man up, then Kuroneko is going to lead everything and even admits to several embarrassing things. It’s nice to see her take such a firm stance, and it makes me think that she deserves Kyousuke’s affection more than Kirino deserves it. But this isn’t about who deserves what, but what each person really thinks of another. Annnnnd of course, Kirino has to break the story to everyone in the most awkward situation out of spite after seeing the two of them close to each other. *Sigh. Immature indeed. She even goes as far as to say that he’s not like a certain someone and everything gets even more dramatic from there.

Kyousuke Kousaka gets slapped in the face

That’s more I like it.

Let the drama begin! So, we have a really jealous brother, a really jealous sister, a really jealous father. Damn, this is one jealous family. The brother is being childish about her sister’s relationship, the father is completely denying the fact that it should exist, and the sister is being straight-up stubborn. Well, of course there’s going to be a few punches that-

… Okay.

Ore no Imouto Kyousuke

Well, she did say she was going to ask someone else.

… I honestly believed that Kyousuke was going to walk up to Mikagami and do something, but he bows like I should have thought. As the music comes on and the desperation moves Kyousuke forward, I realize that Mikagami is 100x better at acting than Kyousuke ever will be. He shines when he shouts out his true feelings, and let’s face it, it’s just like what happened last season. In the end, the two are feeling the exact same thing; they both don’t want the other to like someone else more than they like each other. Also, the face that Kyousuke makes when he realizes that Mikagami is just pretending to be a boyfriend, like he did last episode, is quite intriguing. Well, Kirino did go and find someone else to pretend to be her boyfriend. Haha.

Did the two get closer? Probably, but it looks like Kuroneko is going to stir things up yet again with a sudden confession. I’m not sure if Kyosuke can properly respond without thinking it over at least a little bit. I’m sure that he’s not clear with how she feels for her imouto either. But it’s safe to say that whatever happens, the anime is looking better and better.

Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai. (Oreimo) Season 2 Episode 6 Review

That’s two episodes in a row going in the direction I want this anime to go. It looks like there’ll be a streak starting from now with the sudden confession. But anyways, I want to discuss some of what this episode has done well. I would say that the most important factor is the body language, and most importantly, the eye-motions play in this episode. Like some people have said, it’s almost like the eye movements have given more away than the dialogue has in some cases. Even the body language at the end, and the side glances that Kuroneko does before confessing is well done. The subtle motions here and there definitely add more to the character interactions which are the core of this anime and what makes it so entertaining.

While Kyousuke’s outburst isn’t that surprising considering what he did before, I’m liking the interpersonal interactions a bit more this time around. Sure, he’s just a siscon and she’s just a brocon, but at least Kirino is being a tad more honest with her admitting being jealous over Kyousuke flirting with Kuroneko. Even Daisuke, Kyousuke’s father’s, terribly doting drunk demeanor is quite interesting. While I wouldn’t say this episode has humor, it’s definitely more serious, and with what they’ve done so far, it’s getting somewhere. Although, I wouldn’t say that everything is quite there just yet. Even so, I’m starting to have more faith in this adaptation now.

First off, I will say that I have been enjoying your blogs about Oreimo for the past few weeks. Very well presented! ^_^!! Second, Kirino… she is just so frustrating. Her immature jealousy is quite shocking. I would have never thought she would go to such lengths to “get back at her brother.”

I must applaud Kuroneko for not being a snot nosed brat and seeing threw Kirino’s childish behavior. I really hope this anime or the light novel go down the route I hope their going down.

i read the light novel and i got to say then you will be disappointed.

Thank you very much! I’m glad you like these posts :)

To be fair, Kirino is just a teenager and she’s still immature, but it is very frustrating to a viewer. She “loves” her brother so it’s no surprise that she’s willing to go that far.

I too, admire Kuroneko’s brazen attitude in terms of her relationship with Kyousuke and I hope that she stands a chance. Personally, I don’t mind who really wins as long as the character interactions and growth are there, but Kuroneko deserves something in return for what she’s doing.

I just hope Kuroneko gets rewarded at the end. Glad episode 3 was just a random bump. BTW, I’ve been following this site since the start of the spring season and I love your summaries lol. Especially the Valvrave ones.

I definitely hope so as well. Yep, I’m glad that episode 3 isn’t really indicative of where the anime is going because it isn’t the best.

Thanks a lot! I have a lot of fun writing the impressions especially those Valvrave ones :)

Well next week make u happy and pissed u off

      • Drig

Well, that’s how the 1st season left me feeling as well.

Happy because Kuroneko showed her feelings and the idiot reacted well.

Pissed off because he still ran after his imouto…..

Can’t be worse than that right?

I was rather surprised at the yandere mode to be honest.

*Sigh. It’s difficult to separate the baka onii-san from his imouto.

          • Drig

I found it funny in episode 2. It was unexpected yet carried out perfectly.

However, persisting with it, even when people know Ayase WILL fall for baka onii-san, makes the entire facade tiring too quickly.

          • http://www.entravity.com/ Entrav

:( I really don’t want her to fall for him actually, but I guess that’s inevitable. We can always hope right?!!
