Finally, it’s Kuroneko’s turn. Enough about Kirino and her feelings towards Kyousuke or vice versa, it’s about time this anime has changed things up a little bit. Still, I can’t help but feel that even though the tide has turned, it will recede to the more predictable end.

Kuroneko confesses her feelings

Ore no imouto Gokou Ruri almost crying

I don’t know if he really wants to…

oreimo kuroneko love hands together

What courage. I said it last time, and I’ll say it again. With this scene, I don’t even know how some people would hate Kuroneko. Kirino I can understand for her bitchy attitude, but Kuroneko comes off as someone who truly loves Kyousuke and, in my opinion, one that deserves it. Moreover, Kyousuke’s reaction to the confession is solid unlike a lot of other male protagonist’s when they are confronted by such a confession. Instead of running away (like Kodaka in Haganai), he understands how Kuroneko feels and doesn’t disrespect what she’s trying to convey. Even the little quirks here and there in the confession itself, like how she says there are advantages to being her boyfriend, makes it just a tad more unconventional and that much more interesting, and maybe even realistic.

How big of a brother lover are you?

Is that someone you?

Just as Kuroneko expresses her feelings, Kirino is beginning to convey how she feels as well. The thing that she wanted Kyousuke to do, listen to whoever confesses to him next and to give it a lot of thought, could be taken a couple of ways. One is that she may be the one who will be that person, or she really wishes that Kyousuke makes the right decision. The latter is what I hope to be the case as Kyousuke did basically express the same thing, albeit in a flashy way, last time when she got a “boyfriend.” Then again, she’s saying that the girl really loves him which makes me think that she’s going to be that person. I’m really, really hoping that if she does find out about Kuroneko and Kyousuke she won’t do the typical route of being all angry and running away.

Tamura Manami Kyousuke kirino sticker Kirino pointing angry Kyousuke phone with kirino bikini

Manami eh? Well, she’s playing the adult-like and understanding role, but it’s not like it’s all that significant. Kyousuke is also being more forward with his relationship with his sister. Sticking a sticker of both of them together on his phone and having those pictures in such a brazen manner actually creates the opposite effect of making me think that he doesn’t love her in a romantic way.

Kuroneko win

CHEER CHEER! Right?… I wouldn’t say I’m that surprised as it’s only the first step and from here, I can already feel the drama coming in the next few episodes. But Kyousuke and Kuroneko are going out! Isn’t that great? Some fans have gotten what they wanted right? Yeah, that’s only if everything goes smoothly from here on out. I could easily imagine difficulties ahead in which Kuroneko realizes herself that Kyousuke loves his sister more or something along those lines.

Ruri Gokou super happy squeee

Kyousuke Kousaka creepy face

That is really creepy.

Oreimo kyousuke and kuroneko naked

Kirino banging head against wall huge smile

A girl in love is a scary entity when you’re not the one being loved. An outsider is seen as nothing more than a nuisance to Kuroneko’s eyes. Nonetheless, being boyfriend and girlfriend now the anime should take an interesting turn. Beforehand, it was less about the romance and more about the various slice of life elements and the drama. It’ll be interesting to see how Oreimo transitions itself into a more serious relationship. Will it be more comedic or more dramatic?

Kyousuke asking when it's okay to grope boobs funny

LOL. His mouth.

Akagi Sena

Gokou Ruri and Kyousuke

Miura Gennosuke surprised Mikagami kouki

Oh man, it’s been too long since we have seen some Akagi Sena’s pervertedness. Straightforward, creepy, awkward, but definitely interesting, Sena is always welcome to make more remarks that will only lead to the club members’ sorrow. Mikagami is only adding fuel to the fire. Commenting about Kyousuke’s sister and saying that he likes her in a romantic way? Get ready to face the brotherly power that is Kyousuke. Ah, there’s more Oreimo feel right there in this club room scene. Good, good.

Destiny Record

Kuroneko moe face

A teenager in love is… interesting to inspect especially when it’s Kuroneko. Her chuunibyouness (Careful of spoilers) is already quite high and adding some love to that will only make her even more chuunibyou. Destiny Record? That’s some next level stuff right there being brought out on the first day of being a couple. At the same time, she’s viewing Kyousuke like a knight in shining armor. All of those pictures look like a damsel in distress is being saved by… Damn, she’s not even embarrassed.

Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai. (Oreimo) Season 2 Episode 7 Review

Oreimo is definitely going on the right track. I have no real doubts anymore with the direction it’s going if it doesn’t stray from this path. Some people are saying it’s rushed, but since I haven’t read the LN or anything, I will say that for what I have seen this time, it’s absolutely fine. The confession itself is nice and interesting, the character interactions are giving more of the Oreimo vibe, and the overall feel of the anime is getting better and better. Of course, Kuroneko and Kyousuke going out will not be something that everyone will like, but as someone who doesn’t mind who “wins” in the end as long as the story is well delivered, I like this episode quite a bit.

I still think that no matter who “wins” by the end, we can at least be there when the conflicts do happen. Being overly dramatic is never a good thing and Oreimo may step over the line in its following episodes. Nonetheless, the characters are still the best part of the anime and as long as they stay in character, I won’t have many issues with how the dramatic portions will turn out. Probably the most solid episode of the season so far and it will almost definitely be bested sometime soon.

And that’s the right moment to finish this series. The end. Finito. Fin. Ende. Final episode.

As it wasn’t shown that Kirino even got to know they started dating, I guess she is still cluess. When she knows she will shit thunderstorms.. and submissive Kyousuke will most likely bend to her will, hurting Kuroneko like some closet rapist.

I seriously consider dropping it and ending on a good note.

Haha, I can understand why you feel that way. It’s tempting, but I will see everything to the end and hope for an interesting resolution. I’m really hoping that what you’re saying will not happen, at least, not in that manner of execution.

I’m curious, so I will continue and have no regrets.

While I picked up vibes of ‘I REALLY (nudge, wink) like my sister’ in S1, I haven’t really gotten that feeling in S2. What I get is that up until now, they’ve both been significantly more comfortable with each other, even with squabbles, than they are with ‘outsiders’. If one of them gets a relationship outside theirs, the other would be left isolated. Kyousuke mentions without hesitation that Kirino is his beloved little sister, rather than seeming to imply anything else, and he seems to have no problem having Kuroneko as a girlfriend, so Kuroneko must be making a strong enough impression to overcome that familial bond. It may well be that the threat Kuroneko poses may be enough to drag out Kirino’s feelings (if she has them). Then, I agree, “the felgercarb will hit the discriminator” (from the original Battlestar Galactica). If this season is as popular as the first, the script should go that in the final episode Kirino expresses her feelings, and the ending is left up in the air, as Kyousuke is backed into a corner about making a choice that might come in S3.

Lolol I see what you did there.

Yeah, Kyousuke’s been a lot more straight forward with his feelings about Kirino being his “beloved sister” and the remarks are not something that you could take both ways. I think what you’re getting at is probably going to happen as once Kirino realizes that Kyousuke and Kuroneko are dating, she’ll start to realize her feelings because she depends on Kyousuke. There will indeed be a huge shitstorm coming soon, and the drama will hopefully not be cringe-worthy.

There’s not going to be a season 3. Everything will end this season after 12 episodes and four other ones that will be aired online probably right afterwards only because the spring season itself will be over. As a result, Kirino will express her feelings and Kyousuke must respond by the 16th episode for us to get a proper resolution. Anyways, the LN is ending at the same time the anime is so no one really knows how it’ll all end up.

Unless Ayase now confesses to our baka onii-chan, I’d say I found the perfect ending to OreImo.

However, I do feel that this is gonna end up badly with Kuroneko getting frustrated with either Kirino bitching or our siscon returning to his usual self and she splitting with him…..

Why do I do this to myself after watching a good episode? :'(

I know right. I have a bad feeling about Kuroneko’s future relationship with Kyousuke. I have an obligation to continue and I am hoping for something different. Let’s hope the author delivers well.

I’m kinda disappointed that Saori didn’t rage like in the LN

“Haha, don’t worry about it, I don’t mind it at all…”

“— is that what you thought I’d say!?”

    effing hilarious XD
